Trauma Informed Supervision

This workshop is for supervisors of staff working with complex trauma young people in residential care. Just as effective therapy for young people who have experienced complex trauma requires adaptation of specific therapeutic interventions, the same applies to the supervisory process.  

By attending this workshop, you will acquire the core values and principles of trauma-informed supervision and the requisite knowledge and skill base for supervising trauma informed, therapeutic residential care.

This workshop is informed by current research, equips supervisors to provide trauma-informed supervision to meet the needs of therapeutic residential workers the complex array of challenges posed by young people living in residential care.


By participating in this workshop, participants will:

• Recognise the values and principles of trauma informed supervision and how it differs from classic models of supervision
• Explore the skills needed to become a trauma informed supervisor 
• Apply trauma informed principles to the supervision session

Presenter: This training is presented by Noel MacNamara, Deputy Director for the Centre for Excellence in Therapeutic Care. Noel Macnamara is a social worker with over 35 years of experience as a clinician, supervisor and executive with a wide range of services with children adolescents and families.
