Introduction
For children and young people in out-of-home care, the internet is more than just a place to scroll or play games. It’s where they connect with friends, explore their identities, and seek support.
But past experiences—such as trauma, disrupted relationships, and social isolation—can make online risks more complex. While all young people face challenges like cyberbullying, online grooming, and financial scams, those in care often have fewer trusted adults to guide them through it.
Out-of-home care professionals play a critical role in helping young people stay safe online—without cutting them off from the benefits of digital connection. This workshop is designed to build confidence and practical skills to support young people in navigating the online world safely and with agency.
